New York born artist Sara Gay now resides in Manchester, Vermont and also maintains a residence in Riverdale, New York. Her early art studies at NYU and the New School were put aside to raise her children and complete a teaching career. With her daughters off to college, she once again pursued her art studies, this time in stained glass (Westchester Community Art School) and welding (Suny-Purchase). Fully devoted to her art for the past 8 years, Sara Gay extended her artistry into jewelry design in which her creativity found full expression.
Employing both beading and stained glass techniques, Sara Gay fashions semi-precious stones, exotic and vintage beads, found materials and unique metals in addition to gold and silver into one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
She has exhibited her unusual fabrications at arts and crafts festivals both in Vermont (Hildene Meadow, Stowe and Open Studio Weekend) and in New York (Lincoln Center, Columbus Ave, Saratoga and Albany). Galleries and couturiers such as Near and Far and Robin Lane (in Manchester) and Carroll Condit and Animazing (in New York) have also displayed her fabulous creations. |
